Eastern Health to Offer Free Walk-In Sexual Health Clinics

Eastern Health is joining with community groups in offering free walk-in sexual health clinics in the region. 

Clinics will be offered from February 8th to the 17th.  

Eastern Health’s Vice President responsible for Public Health, Alice Kennedy, says they are hoping to bring awareness and attention to the importance of routine sexual health screening in light of the recent syphilis outbreak in the region. 

Eastern Health started warning sexually active individuals to get tested for syphilis last year after an outbreak among men who were having sex with men. 

Kennedy says it is important to Eastern Health to normalize sexually transmitted infection testing for people throughout the region so that it becomes a part of their regular health screening practices.
