Kim Kardashian Is Being Accused Of Faking Her Weight Loss

Kim Kardashian is NOT happy with people’s comments about her body.

The 35-year-old has been working hard on her health and fitness game since giving birth to Saint West back in December, following a strict Atkins diet and upping her exercise regime in a big way.

And she’s been showing off the results over the past week, slipping back into her signature bodycon frocks and flaunting her curves again, Kimmy K-style, after months of covering up.

In fact, Kim let all her fans know that she’s only four pounds off her ‘pre-baby weight target’, by posting a snap of her standing on a set of scales reading 139.6 pounds.

‘YOU GUYS!!!! PRE BABY WEIGHT WAS 135!!!!!’ the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star captioned the snap.

‘This time I think weight has come off quicker than last time because I kind of learned how to eat better’, Kim told reporters. ‘Last time I worked out a little bit harder. This time I’m eating differently.’

However, when sister Khloe posted a photo of Kim looking bangin’ to her Instagram over the weekend, calling her the ‘snap back queen’, a cruel comment led Kim to hit back.

‘Lipo/tummy tuck duh! Post videos working out as if she did all the work lol’, the person wrote. And Kim didn’t take it lying down.

‘You miserable troll!’ Kim wrote back. ‘I work my ass off and have been dieting for months! I have such pride in my post pregnancy weight loss game… 50 pounds down as of today and 20 more to go!’

‘Just wait for my next nude shoot, you’ll see no tummy tuck/lipo scars! Let’s see your body hiding behind your private account!’

The comment was later deleted, but not before Instagram account @theshaderoominc captured the drama.

Antidepressant Medication Linked to Long-Term Weight Loss

Past studies have shown that people who are depressed are more likely to be overweight. This could be due to a combination of factors, including being more sedentary as a result of the depression or overindulging in “comfort” foods as a method of coping. Unfortunately, most anti-depressant medications are linked to weight gain, further compounding the problem.

New research by Group Health Research Institute (GHRI) demonstrates that bupropion – marketed under the name Wellbutrin – is a medication that is linked to long-term modest weight loss.

The team, who published their research in The Journal of Clinical Medicine, found that patients followed over two years lost an average of 2.4 pounds on bupropion versus those taking fluoxetine (Prozac), who gained an average of 4.6 pounds.

Unfortunately, however, the effect was not seen in those who continued to smoke. Bupropion is also used under the name Chantix to help patients quit smoking. Smokers often gain weight while they are trying to quit, as they often replace cigarettes with food.

“Our study suggests that bupropion is the best initial choice of antidepressant for the vast majority of Americans who have depression and are overweight or obese,” said study leader David Arterburn, MD, MPH, the senior investigator at GHRI and an affiliate associate professor in the University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine’s Department of Medicine.

Just keep in mind that not everyone can take bupropion, such as those with a history of seizure disorder, so it is important to discuss all health conditions with your physician to find the best treatment plan individualized to you.

Raúl 'El Gordo' De Molina Talks Weight Loss, Travel Adventures, Importance Of Latino Vote, And ...

Raúl De Molina, better known in the entertainment world as “El Gordo,” has been charming Latino audiences in the U.S., Latino America, and other countries around the globe for decades and he is not planning on stopping.

Latin Times had the chance to sit down with the hilarious TV host, journalist, photographer, traveller, and racecar aficionado on Saturday in New York City, where he talked about his impressive weight loss, his recent adventure through Europe and Asia, and the upcoming elections,

“I lost forty-eight pounds,” De Molina said about taking on the “Slim Fast” challenge and making it work for the past few months. “And I mean, you look at me and I’m still heavy but I’ve lost almost fifty pounds. I brought my ‘Slim Fast’ shakes, a lot of times I would have them instead of lunch or breakfast,” he continued.

He later confessed that when in Rome he did gain “two or three pounds” but was able to shake it all off during his trip to Positano, which he referred to as “one of the most beautiful places” he’s ever been to, and where he had to “walk up and down the stairs and all that.”

Throughout the interview, the 57-year-old entertainer revealed uproarious details about his family escapades in Europe last month, where he celebrated his birthday next to his wife Mily, and his daughter Mia.

He also pointed out that as a traveler enthusiast, going back to Jerusalem during Holy Week to shoot stories for Univision’s “El Gordo y La Flaca” and having the chance to look at all its historic places through the eyes of an expert, was a life changing experience.

“It’s one of the most important places in the world for Catholics, Jewish and Muslims, and they are all almost within a feet away from each other,” he said. “To me it was an incredible experience because we’ve been to Israel during Easter Sunday before ‘cause my wife wanted to go but to be able to do all this stories there, and be in all these places and we also had a Priest from Argentina that was living in Jerusalem explaining everything to me, because I needed him to do all these stories. This was like, to me, it was the most incredible experience that I’ve had in my life.”

The Emmy-nominated journalist added that perhaps one of the most interesting experiences he had during his recent trip to Israel was visiting the Jordan River “Jesus” style.

“We went to the Jordan River, where Jesus was baptized, and they did the same to me. A Priest baptized me in the river for the show [“El Gordo y La Flaca”],” he shared.

He carried on by saying that the Religious journey was eye-opening for him, his family and the rest of the production, but also for the hundreds, thousands, million viewers out there watching the show during the Holidays.

“I learned a lot about this and I was able to present it to the people, and I think they really loved the stories that we did because I got very good feedback on social media,” he told Latin Times. “People were saying, ‘thank you for showing me something that you guys have never done before and I will not be able to travel to Israel but watching these stories I can learn about it.’ And people were extremely happy about that.”

Even though Raúl avoids getting into political subjects at all costs, later in the chat he disclosed he was attending Hillary Clinton’s rally in Upper Manhattan and the Bronx on Sunday afternoon, and sent an important message to the Latino Community in the country.

“I really think that what’s going on in this Presidential campaign is incredible, and I never thought that this would be happening in the United States, especially everything that’s going on with the Hispanic community,” he confessed.

He sustained, “I think it’s important to tell the Latino community, and the people that watch my show, that is important to go out there and vote because a lot of people that are U.S. citizens, may not even be registered, or may not go to vote. And I want to tell them how important is for them to go out and vote in the upcoming elections because if there’s one election that is important for the Latino community, it’s this one.”

Finally, we asked Raúl if he has ever been star struck by anyone in his many years interviewing some of the biggest celebrities in the industry.

“Yes,” immediately responded his wife Mily, who was sitting next to him. “Emerson Fittipaldi, a very famous Brazilian race car driver.”

“Mily, the interview is with me, not with you,” Raúl joked. “But yes, she is right. We were having lunch at a place in Key Biscayne. And Emerson Fittipaldi is a Brazilian Formula 1 star that won the World Driver’s Championship a lot of years ago, in the 1970s. And he was sitting next to me at a table and I wanted to go say hello because when I was a little kid growing up in Madrid, even though I’m Cuban I lived in Spain since I was 10 years old until I was almost 16, I went to see him when he won one of his first races and then he became the world champion. So, I went and got up and I finally said, ‘I was at El Jarama when you won one of your first races and I’m a big fan of Formula 1, and a big fan of yours.’ He was very nice.”

Diet for a YEAR to keep weight off due to changes in body's chemical make-up

  • People must stick to their diet for a year to keep weight off, study suggests

  • Change can alter the body’s chemical make-up, keeping the pounds off

  • Demonstrates biological defences to store more fat could be overcome

Tom Witherow For The Daily Mail

Perseverance pays off when it comes to diets, a study has found.

The breakthrough research suggests people may just have to stick their diet out for a year to keep weight off permanently, The Times reported.

It suggests that keeping to new habits in the long term change the body’s chemical make-up, allowing the new weight to be maintained.

Dieting has previously been shown to trigger a backlash from the body, sometimes leading to weight being piled back on.

This is because hunger is more acute during dieting – leading to snacking – and cells store more calories as fat.

But researchers in Denmark have shown these survival mechanisms can be overcome, The Times reported last night.

Obese people who shed an eighth of their weight in an intensive diet – so that would be two stone for someone who is 16 stone – and hold it off for a year saw dramatic changes in the chemicals governing their appetite.

Signe Sorensen Torekov, associate professor of biomedical sciences at the University of Copenhagen which carried out the study, said it demonstrated that biological defences could be overcome to allow weight loss.

‘It’s very difficult to fight the hunger,’ she said. ‘It’s like a drug you’re fighting against. This would have been an excellent mechanism 50 years ago, but the problem now is that we have so much food available that we can eat all the time.

‘We were able to show that you shouldn’t give up. If you’re able to keep your weight down for a year, then it shifts and it becomes easier.’

In the study, 20 obese adults were put on an eight-week diet of soups and powdered shakes for the experiment, losing an average of two stone each, before being held at that new weight for a further 44 weeks.

Researchers found three molecules govern how hungry people feel and how much they eat.

After a meal two hormones, called GLP-1 and PYY stop us feeling hungry, but hunger hormone Ghrelin wains as food is digested and its nutrients enter the bloodstream.

Many overweight people have a natural balance of these chemicals that makes them hungrier for longer, making it harder to cut back on food.

New Weight Loss Technique Bariatric Arteriale Embolization Registers Impressive Results

A new technique has been recently developed by interventional radiologists to fight against obesity. The technique, known as bariatric arteriale embolization or BAE, is turning out to be a minimally invasive substitute for gastric bypass and other weight-loss related surgeries.

The pilot trial of BAE involved seven obese patients. Cheryl Denby was one of them. The 48-year-old had tried all the other means lose weight. But, failing in all her attempts, she kept on adding weight and started facing severe health concerns due to her growing weight.

However, after enrolling into BAE pilot project, Denby successfully lost 30 pounds of weight within the first three months. During the BAE procedure, a catheter was threaded by interventional radiologists through the wrist or groin to particular blood vessels that are located in a specific region of the stomach. After arriving at their target, the radiologists inserted microscopic beads to create a barrier for blood supply to this particular location where ghrelin, the hunger hormone of the body, is produced.

The cut in supply of blood to this spot results in an 80% reduction in hunger. Over a period of decades, the beads that are injected into blood vessels have been used in heart and uterine procedures safely. The initial outcomes of this procedure were presented by Dr. Clifford Weiss, the Director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design, at the annual meet of the Society of Interventional Radiology.

“This is essentially designed to be an outpatient procedure that takes under an hour with very little recovery time and very high safety profile. In our patients, we saw 6% weight loss at one month, 9.5% weight loss of 3 months and 13% weight loss at 6 months,” said Weiss.

A detailed weight management program is also offered to the patients to understand the new lifestyle and dietary approach.

In a report published by the Medical Daily, “Presenting their preliminary findings at the Society of Interventional Radiology’s 2016 Annual Scientific Meeting this week, the team reported that the nonsurgical treatment, coined bariatric arterial embolization (BAE), led to a reduction in the appetite and weight of five relatively healthy patients living with morbid obesity, all while having no major side effects. Three months after the procedure, patients had on average lost 5.9 percent of their excess weight; at 6 months, that expanded to 13.3 percent. A similar trend was seen in their levels of ghrelin, a hormone known to stir up our hunger.”

“These early results demonstrate that BAE appears to be effective in helping patients lose a significant amount of weight in the short and intermediate term,” said lead researcher Dr. Clifford Weiss, an associate professor of radiology and radiological science and director of interventional radiology research at Johns Hopkins, in a statement. “Compared to a surgical gastric bypass procedure, BAE is significantly less invasive and has a much shorter recovery time.”

“A procedure long used to halt stomach bleeding may offer another way to treat severe obesity, a preliminary study suggests,” according to a news report published by Chicago Tribune.

The study, of seven severely obese adults, found that the minimally invasive procedure caused no serious complications. It also spurred some weight loss: Patients lost 13 percent of their excess weight, on average, over the next six months.

According to a report in NBC NEWS by Morgan Radford, ” Cheryl Denby had tried everything to lose weight. But by age 48, she was becoming more obese, miserable and her weight had started to cause her major health problems.”

“I was in pain most days, my back, my knees, and it was hard to do daily things like laundry, grocery store, just getting up to get dressed.” said Denby. “I used to joke with my friend I just want to be able to tie my shoes without cutting off my air supply. That was a big deal, so I was unhappy.”

Kim Kardashian shares weight loss goals

The 35-year-old reality TV star just revealed in a post on her paid-for app, that she miraculously lost 19 kilograms of baby weight since the birth of her second child, Saint West, late last year.

But she isn’t exactly popping the champers in celebration just yet, as the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star’s goal is to lose another 12 kilos.

“42 lbs and 28 to go!” she wrote to her millions of followers earlier this week.

The inspiration for the figure-focused blog post came about as the mother-of-two put on her old gym clothes for the first time since.

“Wearing my old workout clothes! They fit again,” Kim proudly quipped before adding that she wanted “more things to start fitting.”

And it’s clear that the combination of regular workouts, healthy lifestyle choices, nutritious eating and her trusty Atkins diet is paying off for the Hollywood personality.

Stepping out in Beverly Hills last weekend for the Daily Front Row Fashion Los Angeles Awards Private Dinner, Kimmy K looked absolutely incredible as she stood arm-in-arm with her rapper husband of almost three years, Kanye West.

The socialite brought sexy back in a stunning black sequin Calvin Klein gown with Tom Ford heels, and flowing balayage locks.

Her lately-unpredictable husband appeared to be on his best behaviour for the event, dressed in a black, silk button up shirt and a very heavy-looking gold watch.

While some women love the glow only pregnancy can provide, it’s no secret that being with-child is not exactly Kim’s favourite thing…

“Some people find it blissful, they feel sexy, they feel alive,” Kim told People last year. “I feel completely the opposite!”

“Getting pregnant the second time was so hard for me. I totally respect the struggle people have to go through. But that doesn’t mean I have to lie and say that it’s blissful.”

“I find it to be a miserable experience.”

With this, we’re not entirely surprised to hear that Kim cannot wait to get back to her pre-baby figure.

“I gained 60lbs during my pregnancy but have been an extra 10 lbs up for the last few years so it’s time to really get to my goal,” the mother-of-two Tweeted in January.”This is going to be soooo f–king hard,” she admitted to her 42 million Twitter followers, “but I can do it and I can’t wait to share it all with you! #BeastMode #WhosWithMe ?!?!?!”

The reality star plans to drop 2 lbs. a week on the Atkins diet.

Her nutritionist, Colette Heimowitz, recently told Extra Tuesday that she will be following the Atkins 40 program, which is made up of a protein and vegetable-heavy diet, along with low glycemic fruits such as berries, and healthy fats such as cheese, nuts and Greek yogurt.

Judging by Kimmy’s current progress, this hot mama will have no problem keeping up with that!

Lose Your Table Manners: Chomping Obnoxiously Will Help With Weight Loss

We’ve all been there: You’re sitting next to a colleague at work who is chomping so loudly you wonder if he’s trying to devour a hambone. You hear every crunch, slurp, and gurgle, along with that awful swallowing sound. Annoyed, you glance over expecting to see him having swallowed a platter of food. Nope, just a run of the mill sandwich. Your appetite now somewhat depleted, you return to your own lunch, silently thanking your mom for teaching you table manners.

But there’s a problem here. You may be interpreted to be culturally more correct in your modest chewing methods, but your colleague is miles ahead of you on the weight loss game. In fact, research has even proven that the louder and more you chew, the less your food intake will be. Here’s the rub: researchers from Brigham Young and Colorado State Universities told college students to eat cookies with three different factors in mind: eat as loudly as possible, eat normally, and eat as quietly as possible. After completing two of these experiments, with each involving around 200 participants, the researchers found that people who chomped the loudest ate by far less than the rest, according to Women’s Health.

The study was published in the scientific journal Quality Food and Preference, and it seemed to hinge on one factor. Sure, you may burn a bit more calories trying to chomp away, but the real issue at play is the philosophy of mindfulness. Most people do not eat mindfully, and for good reason – they are planning their afternoon work to be done, feeding toddlers, watching TV, late for an appointment. But the researchers at Brigham Young and Colorado State Universities say that being aware of and concentrating on every bite not only gives you the ability to enjoy your food, which may trigger the release of endorphins, or “happy” neurotransmitters, but it also makes you very aware of what you’re eating and how much. Slowing down to chew every bite loudly and thoroughly also brings feelings of satiety, or feeling full, in a more expedient manner than those who eat normally, so loud chewers tend to take in less calories.

Waiter with Food

Justin Sullivan/Getty Images

Study co-author Ryan Elder, assistant professor of marketing at BYU’s Marriot School of Management, gives a term to this phenomenon: The Crunch Effect. While your coworkers or family might not like you very much, your swimsuit is sure to love you if you employ this tactic of mindful eating.

“Sound is typically labeled as the forgotten food sense. But if people are more focused on the sound the food makes, it could reduce consumption.”

That means the more you tune out other thoughts, and instead simply concentrate on chewing, the less calories you are likely to consume, both because you are aware of what you are consuming, and because you will become fuller faster. However, there are people out there just not brave to do that in public, and that’s ok. Taking the opposite approach works almost, but not quite, as well: Chew your food as silently as you can – no crunch, gurgle, or lip smacking. Again, the idea isn’t so much that you’re being quiet, but that you are mindful of what and how much you are eating. This may be a preferable method at business lunches and first dates, but go back to that obnoxious eating when you eat alone.

The group that consumed the most cookies were the ones who were told to eat as they normally would. This did not exercise mindfulness of eating because they ate as they always did with no thought, which lead to greater caloric consumption.

So today, nosh away – your waistline will love you, even if your colleagues don’t.

Anna Duggar's Weight Loss Worries Fans As It's Revealed That Birthday Boy Josh Loves His Junk ...

Anna Duggar made another appearance on one of the Duggar family’s many social media pages, and fans can’t quit talking about how thin she looks. Meanwhile, Josh Duggar is still nowhere to be seen, and today the troubled reality show star turns 28 years old. Many fans of the Duggars are likely interested to see if Anna or any of Josh’s other family member’s will publicly acknowledge his birthday.

On March 1, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar shared a Facebook photo of their family preparing a meal together. Anna Duggar can be seen standing beside sister-in-law Jana behind the Duggar’s cafeteria-style serving counter. The picture was likely taken recently because there are Valentine’s Day decorations on the wall.

Anna Duggar enjoys a meal with her in-laws (Image via Duggar Family Official Facebook)

Even though Josh Duggar is nowhere to be seen in the photo above, there’s a very good chance that Anna Duggar’s husband is home from the faith-based recovery center that he’s been away at for months. According to Entertainment Tonight, Josh enrolled in the Reformers Unanimous program near the end of August after he confessed to cheating on his wife, being addicted to internet pornography, and having an account on the Ashley Madison website. It was a convenient way for the former Family Research Council Action Executive Director to avoid dealing with the fallout from his actions, but he couldn’t stay there forever—his six-month stint likely ended sometime last week.

However, it’s possible that Josh’s family members might try to keep him out of the public eye for as long as they can now that TLC has gifted them with a full season of Jill & Jessa: Counting On—any new news about Josh would likely be bad publicity for the family. Whenever a Duggar child celebrates a birthday, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar usually share a Facebook photo of that child along with a birthday message. If the Duggars skip this tradition on Josh’s big day, it could be an indication that they’re attempting to keep Josh out-of-sight and out-of-mind.

However, the Duggars don’t mind sharing photos of Anna Duggar for their fans to comment on, and, because Anna is currently living in the girls’ dorm and Jim Bob and Michelle’s house, there are plenty of opportunities for her in-laws to photograph her. Many Facebook commenters sounded off about Anna’s weight after seeing the aforementioned dinner photo, and some of them expressed their concern that she’s getting too thin.

Fans think Anna Duggar looks too skinny (Image via Duggar Family Official Facebook)

“Yum!!! But Anna looks thin,” Tara Wallace wrote.

“I agree. She doesn’t look healthy,” Kristen Wholey Dewar commented.

“It’s likely from all of the stress she has endured this past year,” Ronda Schmoyer Dykes speculated.

Other fans guessed that Anna was fasting and praying in an effort to save her marriage, and some suggested that she slimmed down so much because she hasn’t had a chance to get pregnant again with Josh away at Reformers. It’s also possible that Anna Duggar simply started eating healthier without Josh around—according to the Huffington Post, Josh’s eating habits were so bad that that he found out he was obese and pre-diabetic during a 2013 episode of 19 Kids and Counting.

“I’m thinking 10 years, maybe five or six more kids, you know. We can’t have a health crisis,” Anna said in response to her husband’s bad health news.

Unfortunately for Anna, the Duggar Family Blog recently reported that Josh’s favorite food is Frito pie. At least the unhealthy treat is an easy birthday meal to make.

Many Duggar birthday celebrations were filmed for 19 Kids and Counting, but, if Josh is home, it’s unlikely that the TLC cameras will be following him as he celebrates his big day—Josh is not mentioned in the description of the Jill & Jessa: Counting On series that was posted on the Duggar Family’s website. However, Anna Duggar will star on the show.

“Jessa and Ben are adjusting to life with baby Spurgeon, while Jill and Derick continue their mission work in Central America. Jana, Jinger, Joy Anna, John David, Josiah and Joseph continue to explore their own talents and passions, and the sisters take a much needed girls’ trip with sister-in-law Anna.”

In addition to spending time with her sisters-in-law during Josh’s absence, Anna has been hanging out with Michelle Duggar.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Anna Duggar’s hero in the photo above is Priscilla Shirer. The actress stars in War Room, a Christian movie about a woman who tries to save her marriage by creating a prayer closet, holing herself up in it, and praying for her emotionally abusive husband to change (Spoiler alert: this actually works).

Do you think Anna Duggar’s husband will be a changed man when he finally decides to come out of hiding? And will the Duggars try to keep Josh out of the public eye the entire time the upcoming season of Jill & Jessa: Counting On airs on TLC?

You know you’re sick when the bathroom floor seems like the best place to sleep. That’s exactly where I was a couple of weeks ago, with a roll of toilet paper as my pillow. I prayed to the porcelain goddess so hard that my husband brought me a sleeping bag because crawling back to the couch was too difficult.

The stomach bug had bit our kids two days before. My son escaped fifth-grade humiliation by his quick-thinking teacher, who sent him off into the hall with a trash can just in time. (No word yet on whether or not the school has bought her a new wastebasket.) The principal found him on the stairs, struggling toward the office.

My daughter woke up Thursday night and made my husband and I give thanks to the universe that our washing machine was working again. I cleaned the same load of bedding three times. With bleach.

“It’s been two days,” I told my husband on Saturday morning. “We’re not sick yet, so maybe we’re immune.”

“Shh!” he knocked on the wooden kitchen table. “Don’t jinx us.”

A few hours later I developed a headache. Then I felt a bit achy. After that, my body propelled me through the worst possible weight-loss regime known to man. My husband reported that at one point I deliriously mumbled about Tamiflu and God, but I don’t remember any of that.

When I finally crossed over to the other side 24 hours later and could once again form complete sentences, my husband gave me devastating news. Our pet fish, Princess Rip-Jaws, was dead. It was either a cruel coincidence, or evidence of our family being cursed.

I was unable to attend Princess Rip-Jaws’ funeral. The thought of fish and sewers in general was more than I could stomach. I plugged my ears when I heard the flush, but did listen to the solemn blessing for her new life with Nemo.

By Monday evening I was back in full communion with the couch, watching Netflix and bravely drinking Gatorade. My husband tried to force-feed us pancakes, and my daughter and I flatly refused to eat. My son took a few bites to be polite, and then joined our protest. The smell of melting butter was so strong that breakfast-for-dinner seemed evil.

Tuesday morning when my husband left for work I implored him. “If you start to feel sick, come home early.” The poor guy had taken care of all three of us, disinfected the entire house, and done multiple loads of laundry. He looked worn out.

I, on the other hand, felt reborn. I enjoyed toast with honey for breakfast. I took a shower and it felt like heaven. I dug around my closet for my old skinny jeans, and was delighted they were now a perfect fit.

Then I headed back to the couch. After all, there wasn’t any need to push it.

Even 5% Weight Loss May Control Diabetes and Heart Disease in

Just 5% of body weight loss could take obese a long way to fight type 2 diabetes and coronary heart disease. Acting on this insignificant proportion could play significant role in lives of people suffering from obesity. This is a new finding by researchers from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.

Earlier, it was suggested to reduce body weight by about 5 to 10% for good health. But now, the experts recommend something else. “Five percent is really a very reasonable goal for most obese patients to achieve, it’s much easier than 10%”, said senior author Dr. Samuel Klein of Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.

For the study, the researchers put 40 participants on goals to either reduce their body weight by 5, 10 or 15%, or to stay at their current body weight. There were 19 participants, out of 20, to be able to achieve the target of 5% weight loss. Some of them even reduced more than that. The average weight of participants was about 106 kg, which was reduced to 100.8 kg after achieving the target of 5%.

After the experiment, the participants were tested for diabetes and heart disease risk. Participants, who maintained their body weight, underwent test after six months, while the group which reduced body weight by 5% were tested after four months. For reducing 11% and 16% of the weight, tests were conducted after six and 11 months respectively.

The results of the tests disclosed the facts that people who targeted 5% of their body weight were able to reduce overall fat mass. In those people, there was improvement in function of the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. Improvement was also seen in sensitivity of their liver and muscle to the effects of the hormone insulin. Reduction in weight by more than 5% could improve these functions even more, as per the study.

Forbes News reported that, they also had improvements in glucose levels, triglyceride (blood fat) levels, heart rate, systolic blood pressure and the hunger hormone leptin. The 5% weight loss did not affect cholesterol levels, either “good” or “bad” varieties.

“These results demonstrate you get a large bang for your buck with a 5% weight loss,” said study author Samuel Klein. “Based on these findings, we should reconsider changing current obesity practice guidelines to stress a target goal of 5% weight loss, rather than 5% to 10% weight loss, which increases the perception of failure when patients do not achieve weight losses that are greater than 5%.”

ExaminerGazette news report said, although scientists hypothesize that increased inflammation in fat tissue contributes to metabolic problems such as insulin resistance, this study found that the metabolic function could improve while markers of inflammation remain unchanged.

“Our findings demonstrate that you get the biggest bang for your buck with five percent weight loss”, says Samuel Klein, professor of medicine and nutritional science and chief of the geriatrics and nutritional science division at Washington University in St. Louis. But until now, there has been little research into the effects of losing 5% rather than 10%, which is tougher to achieve.

According to the HuffingtonPost News, Good news for anyone who is obese and trying to get healthier: Losing just 5 percent of your body weight can lead to significant improvements in insulin sensitivity, which can reduce the risk of major health issues like Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, according to a study published Monday in the journal Cell Metabolism.

“Even though five percent weight loss may not have dramatic cosmetic benefits, it does have significant health benefits,” said the study’s author, Dr. Samuel Klein, director of the Center for Human Nutrition at Washington University School of Medicine. “You’re much healthier on the inside, and it’s a really reasonable and legitimate target for people with obesity.”

MusclePharm Shred Matrix Weight Loss Supplement Review – 2016 Update

Shred Matrix® by MusclePharm is a weight loss supplement that is specifically formulated to help with weight loss across several different mechanisms.  In an industry that rakes in billions of dollars in revenue, you’ve probably seen dozens of commercials and infomercials on the latest and greatest pill the promises to burn fat lose weight.  Unfortunately many of these claims are false as the marketing and labeling is not strictly regulated when a product is marketed as a dietary supplement, some have even been linked to death.  Luckily there are a few select compounds and molecules that have evidence for aiding in fat loss, some of which are present in Shred Matrix.

    Weight Loss Supplements

Weight loss supplements are notorious with false claims.  Always be wary of products that don’t list the active ingredients and blends that have labelling with “proprietary” on them.  It’s just a fancy word that tells you that the company refuses to share with you what’s truly in their product.  Again, ALWAYS READ THE LABEL on a weight loss supplement and make sure you know exactly what’s going in your body.

These supplements can be grouped into several different types: thermogenics, fat burners, blockers, and appetite suppressants to list a few of the major classes.  Many of the products available include a variety of different compounds which fall into multiple categories.  Let’s go over some of the compounds and molecules that have evidence to show that they’re effective:

    Caffeine

To many people (including myself), caffeine is a miracle drug.  It wakes you up in the morning, enhances performance in both strength and endurance activities, and has been associated to fight certain diseases such as Alzheimer’s and cirrhosis.  You can add fat oxidation and increased metabolic rate to the list as caffeine is a very potent fat burner.  The primary downside is you will likely have to cycle its use as your body builds tolerance to its effects.

    Synephrine

Back in the day when it was legal to market ephedrine as a weight loss compound, it was included in all major weight loss formulations due to its high level of effectiveness.  Unfortunately due to abuse of such products and the side effects associated of too much consumption of this compound, ephedrine was banned for use as a dietary supplement.

In comes it’s younger brother, synephrine (or P-synephrine).  This compound is naturally found in citrus fruits, particularly oranges, and functions similarly to ephedrine but with less severity.  It’s a compound known to provide a slight increase in metabolic rate and works synergistically with caffeine.

    Green Tea Catechins

This ingredient consists of four different molecules which are highly bioactive and generally good for your health.  In regards to their potency in far burning, the most active molecule within the green tea catechins is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) has been shown to have significant effects in humans for lipid oxidation and other related fat-burning pathways.  Green tea catechins and EGCG can often be grouped as a percentage of green tea extract so pay attention to the label to determine the amount you’re actually getting.

    Yohimbine

This stimulant is obtained from the bark of a tree in Central Africa and has been used to treat erectile dysfunction in addition to weight loss.  It works synergistically with caffeine and works by increasing adrenaline levels and inhibiting certain processes in fat cells.  Due note that this ingredient can have psychoactive effects and can lead to anxiety at high doses.

Shred Matrix – Does it Work?

Shred Matrix is a relatively inexpensive blend of weight loss ingredients which is marketed to support fat loss, provide energy, and suppress appetite.  I’ve personally used the product on multiple occasions to help drop weight for competition and the following section includes my thoughts on it.

    Ingredients & Effectiveness

    812xz1GpunL._SX522_

Aside from a few legal troubles regarding patent infringements and certifications on marketing, MusclePharm has been a fairly reputable company in terms of the quality of their products.  Most of their sponsored athletes are in the UFC which is where I was introduced to their product line.  Shred Matrix’s ingredient label features a 3-pill per serving of their 8-Stage Weight Loss Propriety Blend.  While I’m typically not a fan of proprietary blends, MusclePharm does a decent enough job of listing what’s in these pills and provides the concentrations of key compounds.

In the fat burning department, the primary driver in Shred Matrix is >150 mg of caffeine per serving which is in the moderate range of dosing for this compound.  I didn’t feel any jitters whatsoever with this product do to this amount of caffeine and partially to the addition 5-HTP.  Green tea extract is included and lists the 45% concentration of EGCG as a sign of good faith which is nice to see on the bottle; on the other hand it’s impossible to know how much EGCG is present based on the label.  The only other fat-burning compound worth mentioning is the inclusion of cayenne fruit powder and with its very bioactive compound capsaicin, is very much a welcome addition as it’s been shown to help with fat burning in human studies.image_27659_original_X_450_white

As an appetite suppressant, I’m not too impressed with Shred Matrix’s marketing.  On the label itself, the only effective ingredient for appetite suppression and marketed to do so is glucomannan, but the amount is unlisted so it’s difficult to discern if it actually does anything.  On the other hand, caffeine and 5-HTP are very strong appetite suppressants and have been shown to cut reduced sugar cravings in certain individuals.  A closer look into the proprietary blend label, a lot of the ingredients MusclePharm packed into this product can likely be left out and prove to be just as equally effective since many of the ingredients lack any scientific evidence for helping with weight loss.  The same goes for its Brain Power Matrix blend – aside from the Acetyl-L-Carnitine included (though actual amounts are undisclosed), there’s little evidence that it can function as an effective nootropic aside from caffeine.

One nice inclusion in Shred Matrix that I was pleasantly surprised with was the addition of its Diuretic Complex.  Uva ursi leaf and dandelion root extract are popular amongst bodybuilders, where they use it during contest prep to help cut water weight in the days leading up to their show.  They’ve been shown to be very effective and I noticed it very quickly when I cut carbs while on this product; I seemed to lose water much more quickly while on it.  Don’t mistake this reduction in water as true fat loss but for those who like seeing the scale reading drop quickly in the early stages of a diet, Shred Matrix provides a quick boost to your motivation.

Is MusclePharm Shred Matrix Worth it?

You can often find a 40-serving container of Shred Matrix for around $20 at most online retailers.  I find this to be relatively inexpensive compared to other weight loss products and a great value if you’re looking to only buy one product to cover your needs.  Keep in mind that each serving includes 3 pills, but they’re relatively small and easy to take down.  The recommended dosage is twice a day so you’re looking at a daily cost of $1 if you play it that way.  Personally I take this once a day in the morning while on an empty stomach and I’m happy with that.

    MusclePharm Shred Matrix Review Recap

As a one-stop shop for an inexpensive and effective weight loss supplement, Shred Matrix is a wonderful product when you need a little help with that cut.  It’s effects are very subtle but when combined with healthy nutrition and calorie deficit, it’s exactly what you want from a fat burning supplement.  It does a nice enough job suppressing your appetite (thanks to caffeine and 5-HTP) and even includes a few ingredients to help with water retention and bloating (listed above along with digestive enzymes).  If you’re in the market for a weight loss product, give it a try!

Oprah Winfrey said that she has lost 26 pounds and she is proud of her feat.

The 62-year old media mogul, who has been struggling with her weight all these years, said that she has found her secret to weight loss eating bread every day.

According to ABC, Oprah Winfrey turned to Weight Watchers’ calorie-counting points system. She tweeted to her followers that she was finding progress in her weight loss and she found that she did not have to deprive herself of eating bread.

“I don’t deny myself bread. I have bread every single day,” Winfrey said.

Nutritionist Maya Feller also said that it was possible for other people to have a weight loss like Oprah Winfrey’s, but also warns about not getting “too carried away.”

“Don’t be afraid of carbs — but know what you’re eating,” said Feller. “If you pay attention to portion, you can lose weight.”

She added that people who want to concentrate on weight loss could very well benefit from reading the packaging label on the items they purchase. For instance, she said that bread with “whole grain” or “whole wheat” are most ideal.

Oprah Winfrey’s weight loss has been a topic for gossip over the years as the media mogul would often find herself struggling with her weight and finding a fitness regimen that would work for her.

In a report with The Guardian, Oprah Winfrey has a deal with the company that includes her making personal endorsements. She was responsible for adding nearly $150M to Weight Watchers’ market shares, with her own stake gaining about $12.5M in value.

According to the report, Oprah paid $43M for her 10 percent share in the company late last year. Because of that, the weight loss company’s stock value rose from $6.79 to $15.

Oprah Winfrey owns about 15 percent of Weight Watchers and 3.5 million of stock options are included.

If one full length wasn’t enough, the former TOWIE star pulled together a composite shot of herself in the swimwear three times, each looking equally fantastic.

Beside it, she began to rant about how she achieved her shape: ‘I’ve worked hard to be fit and strong I train hard and enjoy eating good clean food and give my body what it needs.

‘Anyone can change and become who THEY want 2 be anyone can be “skinny” but it doesn’t make you happy! That’s not what I represent. I woke up today and I love my body.’

Lauren had previously admitted that she hit rock bottom before making a conscious effort to slim down, saying she’d been steadily gaining around a stone every year for five years.

In May 2015, she stated the intention to lose three stone and exceeded her goal, dropping five dress sizes, with a little help from her fitness DVD OMG! Workout.
