'Lea Michele' Flaunts Tight Tummy & Hips on 'Women's Health', Reveals 'Scream Queens' Secret

LOS ANGELES, CA – SEPTEMBER 25: Actress Lea Michele signs copies of her new book ‘You First: Journal Your Way to Your Best Life’ at Barnes & Noble bookstore at The Grove on September 25, 2015 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by JB Lacroix/WireImage) (Photo : JB Lacroix / Contributor)

Lea Michelle fronted the latest issue of Women’s Health, where she flaunted her impressive physique in a bikini top and low-riding sweatpants.

Too Fab reported that the “Glee” star put a few of her popular tattoos on display in the snapshots with her bird hip ink and the words “If you say so” on her ribcage clearly visible. The phrase is a tribute to her late boyfriend Cory Monteith, the words being the last he said to her before his tragic death, Us Weekly shared.

The 29-year-old actress opened up about her fitness routine and shared some intel from the set of her new show “Scream Queen.” “I’m really close with Becca [Tobin], who was on ‘Glee’ with me, and we go hiking all the time,” the star said of her workouts. “I hike on trails about four times a week; I love being outside.”

“[Becca and I] also do hot yoga; I like exercises that have a little spirituality to them,” she continued. “It’s the greatest combination of meditation, detox, and a fantastic workout. Emma Roberts introduced me to Pilates in New Orleans.”

However, Lea revealed that it is not just her body she’s trying to maintain on set of the Fox horror comedy series. “I refuse to scream on the show. Ryan [Murphy] got me in a booth one day and I told him ‘I’m screaming like twice and then you’re going to have to use it the whole season’ because I’m a singer and I was there with Ariana Grande and we were like ‘We can’t scream, this is our gift,"” she divulged.

“So I don’t scream, they just dub it in,” she added. “But they say I do a really good scream face without having to scream.”

“The cast is incredible, the scripts are so funny, they’re also really scary,” Lea explained. “I couldn’t be happier right now. It’s really such an amazing blessing.”

Fertility Treatment & Tips: Exercise, Dieting May Boost Fertility In Women With PCOS

  • Australia Celebrates Baby Boom

  • (Photo : Ian Waldie/Getty Images) SYDNEY, NSW – JUNE 07: A pregnant woman holds her stomach June 7, 2006 in Sydney, Australia. Australia is currently enjoying a baby boom, with the Australian Bureau of Statistics registering a 2.4% increase in births from 2004 to 2005, which represents the highest number of births since 1992. The Australian Federal Government has been encouraging people to have more babies, with financial incentives and the slogan by treasurer Peter Costello to ‘have one for mum, one for dad, and one for the country’. The Federal Government has identified falling fertility rates and the ageing population as long-term problems for Australia’s growth and prosperity.

For women who struggle with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), getting pregnant could be a challenge. However,  a healthy diet and  exercise can improve the fertility in women who have PCOS, a new  study says.

According to Womenshealth.gov, PCOS is the most common cause of infertility among women due to absence of ovulation. Among the  underlying problem with PCOS is hormonal imbalance, where the ovaries produce more androgens than normal, which can lead to acne, excessive hair growth, weight problems and problems with ovulation. PCOS affect a woman’s menstrual cycle.

Normally, the ovaries where a woman’s eggs are produced have tiny fluid-filled sacs called follicles or crysts. As the egg grows the follicle builds up fluid, when the egg matures, the follicle breaks open and release the egg. The egg then travels to the fallopian tube for fertilization, otherwise known as ovulation.

For women with PCOS, the ovary doesn’t produce all the hormones it needs for an egg to fully mature, ovulation does not occur. However, here’s a good news, every woman can do something to raise her chance of fertility.

“The findings confirm what we have long suspected – that exercise and a healthy diet can improve fertility in women who have PCOS,” says study co-author Dr. Richard S. Legro, professor of obstetrics and gynecology and public health sciences at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA. Several other studies also associate a better lifestyle such as diet and exercise to increase chances of fertility, Herald Current reports.

The study involved 149 obese and overweight women who were between 18 to 40 years old and were diagnosed with PCOS. Aside from being obese and overweight, those women have no other major medical conditions. They were randomly assigned to take birth controls, change their lifestyle, and a combination of both. After the interventions, the participants were given medication to induce ovulation, HNGN reports.

After the follow-up period, five (10 percent) of those who took birth control pills got pregnant, 13 (26 percent) of those who changed their lifestyle through diet and exercise, and 12 (24 percent) did both. The study also discovered that combining birth control pills with lifestyle medication improves ovulation.

“The research indicates preconception weight loss and exercise improve women’s reproductive and metabolic health,” Legro said in a press release. “In contrast, using oral contraceptives alone may worsen the metabolic profile without improving ovulation. Lifestyle change is an important part of any fertility treatment approach for women with PCOS who are overweight or obese.”

The study was published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolilsm for its Sept. 24 issue.

Bloom & Blossom™ Ultra Gentle™ Infant Formula Now Available On Amazon.com And In Select ...

GEORGIA, Vt., Sept. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Perrigo Nutritionals, one of the nation’s largest manufacturers of infant formula, today announced the launch of Bloom & Blossom Ultra Gentle Formula, an innovative, easy-to-digest formula for babies experiencing fussiness, gas, or crying.

Ideal for sensitive tummies, Bloom & Blossom Ultra Gentle was developed with 95 percent less lactose than traditional milk-based formulas and 100 percent partially hydrolyzed (broken down) whey to make digestion easier.  This means fewer fussy feedings and more potential bonding time with baby.

“Infant feeding is about more than sustenance; it can also play a critical part in determining an infant’s quality of life,” explains Dr. Jenifer Lightdale, MD, MPH, division chief, pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition and UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center. “It is not uncommon for infants with developing digestive systems to have difficulty tolerating certain proteins in their diets, which can lead to fussiness, gas, and crying. Tolerance issues can result in a less than ideal feeding experience for both the baby and the parent. Parents should know there are a number of dietary changes, as well as specialized infant formula options, which can help address protein sensitivities in infants.”

Bloom & Blossom Ultra Gentle Formula offers complete nutrition for a baby’s first year and features a 1-2-3 combination.  First, Ultra Gentle contains 100 percent partially hydrolyzed whey protein.  Second, it contains prebiotics to support digestive health and the immune system.  Third, the formula contains 95 percent less lactose than standard milk-based formulas.

Additional benefits include:

Weight loss tips & tricks: hot chili pepper prevents obesity

Aug 21, 2015 07:11 AM EDT

LONDON, ENGLAND – OCTOBER 09: Hot Cayenne chili peppers are displayed at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Harvest Festival Show on October 9, 2013 in London, England. A UK research has revealed that hot chili peppers could help with weight loss as consuming it could help stimulate the stomach’s receptors to signal the feeling of fullness.

Researchers from the University of Adelaide’s Center for Nutrition and Gastrointestinal Diseases have found that chili pepper can be a potential treatment for obesity as it can stimulate the stomach receptors into telling the brain that the body is full. Their findings are published in the journal PLOS ONE.

According to Associate Professor Amanda Page, senior research fellow in the University of Adelaide’s School of Medicine and lead author of the study, they have discovered that the capsaicin in chili can be used to activate the TRPV1 receptors in the stomach.

“The stomach stretches when it is full, which activates nerves in the stomach to tell the body that it has had enough food. We found that this activation is regulated through hot chili pepper or TRPV1 receptors,” Page said in a news release published in the university’s website.

She added that the signal of TRPV1 receptors can be diminished through too much fat, similar to the high fat diet consumed by obese patients.

According to Dr. Stephen Kentish, coauthor of the research, the results of their studies will help in the research and development of new treatment methods.

“It’s exciting that we now know more about the TRPV1 receptor pathway and that the consumption of capsaicin may be able to prevent overeating through an action on nerves in the stomach,” Dr. Kentish said via Science Daily.

He added that further research will look into the reason why TRPV1 receptors are “de-sensitized” by diets with high fat content and how to go about reversing the effects of it. In addition to obesity treatment, the study could also be used for weight gain prevention.

“The next stage of research will involve investigation of the mechanisms behind TRPV1 receptor activation with the aim of developing a more palatable therapy,” Dr. Kentish said in the report by Science Daily.

As for using the chili for weight loss treatments, ABC News reports that researchers will look into simulating the effect of the chili without the spice’s “hotness.”

“What we really want to do is we really want to be able to develop … potentially look at ways of exploiting this chemical without the hotness that’s perceived when you eat food laden with chilli, so it’s more just about making it more able to be consumed by a vast majority of people,” Kentish told the outlet.

It looks like it’s not only Kim and Kourtney Kardashian who are making the news today as Khloe unveils her new “Beyonce booty” on social media over the weekend, crediting lifestyle change and regular workout.

The Daily Mail Online UK writes that the 31-year-old reality show star told Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald and Michael “Wippa” Wiofli last Monday about her weight loss secrets and workout goals, stating that the star has been working out with her personal trainer, Gunnar Peterson, and has been trying to amp up her game to get Beyonce’s famous buttocks.

In a tell-all interview, Khloe said she didn’t go on a diet. She said diets are too weird for her so she has decided to remove sugary drinks instead.

Hollywood Life also reports that Khloe has nothing but praises for her trainer who lets her be whatever she wants to be and has not looked skeptical when she said she wanted a booty like Beyonce. Furthermore, Khloe believes in lifestyle changes and shared that it doesn’t have to be drastic. Simple changes in a month can go a long way, the star explained.

Hello! Magazine adds that Khloe also does her own make-up as part of her beauty regime. She confirmed that she’s a pro in doing her own make-up but fails horribly when it comes to her hair. The reality star said that as she has a curly hair, she doesn’t wash it often and when it’s blow-dried or dolled-up, she lets it stay for three days. It’s a matter of faking it until you make it, shares the vivacious star.

Furthermore, People Magazine writes that as Khloe constantly shares her workout photos on Instagram, it is very obvious that she is determined to stay fit and healthy.

Khloe said she works out almost everyday and visits her trainer five times a week. She also tries to stay hydrated as possible, sharing that water is her constant fluid and she drinks it in liters.

The reality star is currently rumored to be dating basketball star James Harden, and although Khloe is mum about their budding relationship, Daily Mail Online UK reported that Harden and Khloe’s ex-husband, Lamar Odom, has attended the same gig last Saturday. Khloe has filed for divorce in 2013 after Odom’s alleged infidelity issues have surfaced, causing a rift between the two.

Pre- & Probiotics market snap-shot; ban to cost €1.5bn by 2020 in EU6

“The EU probiotic claim ban continues to constrain the pro/prebiotic drinking yoghurt market in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands and the UK,” the analyst said.

In these countries the cost was more than €500m since 2012 andstands to lose a further €1bn to 2020 in retail value as result of the ban of probiotic claims.”

“As such, in 2014 alone the pro/prebiotic drinking yoghurt market could have potentially grown by €120 million (equal to a rise of 17% in constant value terms) in the six negatively affected countries, whilst the retail sales actually contracted by €44m (to €730m).”

“Still, the impact in 2014 was less severe than a year earlier, when an estimated €240m off retail sales was lost.”

Source: Euromonitor International

Mintel figures show similar numbers of pre- and probiotic products on-market despite the ban.

President of the HealthyMarketingTeam Peter Wennstrom agreed the ban was constraining and urged the sector “to get back to basics in marketing efforts because the story of healthy bacteria is an ancient, natural and powerful one.”

He predicted that coupled with this, stronger science would lead to increasing use of probiotics in medical channels, which would have a run-on effect across the market.

Consumer perception

Barry Smith, chairman of UK firm Symprove that makes prebiotic products said consumers still struggled to make the link between pre- and probiotics and their immune systems.

“I would go as far as to say that after 30 years of trying to get this message across, our main drive for the last 15 years has been to try and prove that pre- and probiotic technology can have a beneficial effect in specific indications. The public want resolution they do not understand maintenance.”

“I would say 95% of the public do not know what a prebiotic is and therefore they do not understand.”

“…consumers should be given better access to recent scientific results…”

However Thomas Schmidt, marketing director at inulin oligofructose supplier Beneo, pointed to Health Focus International research that showed high levels of more than 80% of people in countries like Russia and Thailand and Mexico agreed there was a link between gut health and immunity.

“Even more, consumers are actively looking for natural solutions that help them to follow a holistic approach of healthy eating and lifestyle. This is why they are looking for food and beverage products helping the entire family to enhance immunity incl. baby food, beverages and more. However, the market for the time being is still set by pharmaceutical products, vitamins and supplements,” said Schmidt.

“Particularly in Europe consumers should be given better access to recent scientific results on digestive health and immunity as well as to food products in the shelves. Both would help people to follow the increasingly desired approach for a healthy lifestyle.”

Smith said the effect of the claims ban had been a “change of focus towards medical claims, for those that are seriously focused on health.”

He added “the rules aren’t really policed or enforced, so there is still a huge amount of over-claiming on commercial websites, for example.”

The category was being driven by the “very well educated and very unwell who are disillusioned with the medical advice they receive and the system’s reliance on drugs.”

“The sector is bursting at the seams for start-up disruption and specialised marketing.”

In the EU the terms prebiotic and probiotic are typically deemed unauthorised implied health claims as, despite more than 300 applications. However Beneo’s inulin recently won a positive opinion for stool health.
