Kombucha Maker Brews Up $7 Million

Health-Ade, a West L.A. kombucha drink producer, has raised $7 million from a group of undisclosed investors, according to a March 16 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The firm is seeking $12 million in total, according to the filing.

Health-Ade was founded in 2012 by husband and wife Justin and Daina Trout, along with Vanessa Dew. The company has tapped into the health food, kosher and vegan markets with their small-batch crafted kombucha, a fermented tea with naturally occurring probiotics among other digestive health benefits.

The Health-Ade line includes nine flavors, with products sold at Whole Foods, Lassens and other specialty food shops.

A spokesperson for Health-Ade could not be reached for comment.

Probiotics May Be the Key to a Healthy Weight: Happy Kombucha Comments

This press release was orginally distributed by SBWire

Eastbourne, East Sussex — (SBWIRE) — 12/17/2015 — According to a recent study published in the journal ‘Obesity’, a regular intake of Probiotics may help to combat weight gain. It involved research at Virginia Tech University, where 20 healthy men were studied – ordered to consume a high-fat and high-calorie diet for a month, yet some also taking a daily milkshake with Probiotics blended in. The results were that there was lower fat accumulation and lower body mass gain by the men who had the Probiotic milkshake.

There are a number of anticipated links between Probiotics and better bodily health – but that they could also be linked to weight gain prevention could be seen as highly positive. Many people already enjoy Probiotic products for improved digestive health and potentially greater immunity; but now it appears they could be used as natural dietary aid too.

It is anticipated that further research will be carried out in the field, highlighting that Probiotics is an area in which fascinating discoveries are being made all the time. This fascination can be coupled with expanding ranges of products available through which people can enjoy them – not only food products but also drink-making kits. A prime example of a specialist in the field of Probiotic consumption is Happy Kombucha and a spokesperson had this to say:

“The possibility of a link between Probiotics and avoiding fat accumulation is especially interesting. This suggests that Probiotics can play a role in processing food more beneficially for our bodies; minimizing the bad and maximizing the good. After all, a number of people already feel great for incorporating Probiotics into their lifestyles – and the latest research provides another great incentive to try.”

Cultured Food for Health: A Guide to Healing Yourself with Probiotic Foods Kefir * Kombucha * Cultured Vegetables

Donna Schwenk’s first book, Cultured Food for Life (2013), told the amazing story of how she used the probiotic power of fermented foods to heal herself and her family from serious illness—
and it introduced readers to the basics of preparing and using these health-giving foods. Dr. Christiane Northrup called it “just what the doctor should be ordering!” Now, Donna returns to
help us take the next steps in transforming our kitchens and our health.

Cultured Food for Health explores the science behind the benefits of cultured foods and shows how incorporating “The Trilogy”—kefir, kombucha, and cultured vegetables—into our diet
creates more powerful healing effects than any one of these foods alone, as the different types of probiotic bacteria work together to create a healthy gut and a truly healthy life. Donna explains
how cultured foods can be used to address specific ailments—from IBS and diabetes to allergies, colds, and flu—and teaches us, step by step, how to prepare these probiotic foods and
easily incorporate them into a daily routine. In a positive and welcoming voice, she answers the sorts of questions a cultured-food novice is likely to have (yes, it’s really all right to let vegetables
ferment on the counter for three days!) and offers troubleshooting tips and clear instructions to support even the most uncertain home cook. By sharing her own story as well as real-life stories
from members of her online community, she takes the fear out of fermentation so that all of us can experience the energy, well-being, and joy available to us when our bodies are working the
way they’re meant to. Includes a vivid color insert with images for guidance and inspiration.
