Goshen shred event Saturday benefits women's services

IU Health Goshen asked for donations to its Women

GOSHEN, Ind. – A shred event in Goshen helped dozens get rid of sensitive materials Saturday, all while helping a good cause.

IU Health Goshen asked for donations to its Women’s Health Center and Heartstrings Sisters for every few boxes and bags of paper to shred.

The pink trash cans are a reminder of breast cancer awareness, and it coincides with the women’s services mission.

Based on the turnout, the fourth annual event was a hit.

“We’ve had a real good turn out today,” IU Health Goshen Women’s Services Administrative Coordinator Hollie Carlson said. “We had folks line up way before we were ready to start and it’s been steady since we started the shred trucks.”

Heart Strings Sisters provides mammograms to women in the community without insurance.

It also pairs newly diagnosed cancer patients with a partner who has already gone through the treatment.
