PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) –
Dr. Bob Warner, a surgeon with Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, will add a new perspective to health screenings for the annual Men’s Health Fair.
“He is going to be offering a free vascular wellness screening,” Shay Willis, director of Marketing and Public Relations said. “It’s for carotid and aortic aneurysms. There is going to be limited space available. The test takes about 15 minutes. So if you’re interested and wanting more information, call 870-239-8107.”
Blood glucose, cholesterol screenings, blood pressure checks, weight and nutrition information will be available at the heath fair happening Thursday, Sept. 3, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Hopefully we can catch anybody that may work in a factory, normally their shift is 7 to 3,” Willis said. “Or if you’re just a working person that works at 8 o’clock, you can’t get away from your job fast. Come in and have that blood work done immediately. Then you don’t have to worry about getting away from work on your lunch hour or 2 o’clock. So we’re going to see.”
Willis advises participants to fast before any blood test.
“Your blood results are always better if you’ve been fasting 12 hours prior,” Willis said. All services are free to the public.
“We have found that the women in the home are definitely the decision makers, especially when it comes to health care,” Willis said. She hopes family members will make sure the men in their lives know about the event.
